NASSAU- A 20-year-old heavy duty equipment operator accused of getting his underage lover pregnant was on Tuesday granted $15,000 bail.
Jakyle Barry allegedly began a sexual relationship with a 12-year-old girl in August 2021.
The minor could not give consent because she is under 16.
Barry was arrested after it was discovered that his now-13-year-old alleged lover was six months pregnant.
He was remanded to prison on August 15 when he appeared before a magistrate charged with 11 counts of unlawful sexual intercourse.
Magistrates lack the authority to consider bail for the offense.
As a result, Barry applied for bail in the Supreme Court.
Justice Deborah Fraser set bail on the condition that Barry wears an ankle monitor, reports to a police station once a week and has no contact with prosecution witnesses.
Barry will remain in custody until his bail is signed.
Ian Cargill represented Barry.
