NASSAU – An 18-year-old man has been charged with the attempted murder of an off-duty police officer.
Latoriano Mackey, of Lily of the Valley Coroner, was refused bail at his first court appearance.
According to police, Constable Horace Albury Jr. was shot when he thwarted the robbery of John Chea and Sons No. 2 on October 4.
A short time later, police arrested a suspect and recovered a firearm.
Mackey faces charges of attempted robbery, attempted murder, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, possession of an unlicensed firearm and possession of ammunition.
He didn’t have to enter pleas to the charges and is next due to appear in court on December 16.
