NASSAU- A convicted killer who prosecutors say used his car as a deadly weapon has had his sentence cut to 10 years.
In July 2019, Tyrone Francis was sentenced to 35 years for the October 10, 2009 murder of Jonathan Linden.
Justice Guillimina Archer-Minns said the sentence takes effect from the date of conviction.
The Court of Appeal ordered Francis’s re-sentencing after they replaced his murder conviction with one of manslaughter in June 2021.
According to the prosecution’s case, Francis had an argument with Linden at two of his friends at Royal Castle’s Takeaway.
They alleged that Francis knocked the men from behind as they walked south along Baillou Hill Road.
Linden died at the scene and his friends received comparatively minor injuries.
Francis did not deny hitting the men; however, he denied doing it on purpose.
He claimed that he lost control of his vehicle when he swerved after someone threw an object across the windshield.
On the other hand, prosecutors said the incident stemmed from the previous altercation at the restaurant.
