Funeral director Godfrey Gray is back in legal trouble after being accused of the statutory rape of a minor.

Prosecutors say that Godfrey Gray, 39, of Fritz Lane, molested the girl from October 1, 2020 to December 5. The child, who was 13 when the unlawful relationship allegedly began, is now 14. The age of consent is 16.

Gray was not required to enter pleas to the charges of unlawful sexual intercourse when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt Thursday.

He was denied bail and returns to court on April 21.

Earlier this year, Gray pleaded guilty to intentional libel and misuse of telecommunications. In that case, Gray sent WhatsApp messages to a woman’s husband and relatives claiming he had given her AIDS.

The woman and Gray had a brief affair. He began the campaign of harassment after she refused to leave her husband for him, the court heard.

Although Gray claimed to have AIDS, his former mistress tested negative for HIV when she made the complaint.

Deputy Chief Magistrate Andrew Forbes granted Gray a conditional discharge in that case. Gray also has a pending case for allegedly impersonating a policeman.
