NASSAU-An alleged crab bandit won’t have any crab and rice this Father’s Day unless a Supreme Court judge grants him bail.
A magistrate refused Antonio Cheribin bail after he denied stealing more than $1,000 in crabs on June 1.
Prosecutors say the 21-year-old stole four crab pens, 24 black crabs and 198 white crabs, with a combined value of $1,576 from Diargo Smith.
Cheribin, of Faith Avenue, faces the alternative charge of receiving two crab pens and 84 white crabs, with a total value of $760.
Cheribin appeared before Senior Magistrate Derence Rolle-Davis, who scheduled a trial for October 21.
