NASSAU- A police officer shot a man after he allegedly “attacked him with a knife” at a bar Saturday morning.
The incident took place at a bar on Baillou Hill Road around 1am.
According to police, the officer was off-duty.
While at the bar, the officer allegedly saw the man “acting in a disorderly manner towards an employee.”
That’s when the officer identified himself as a policeman and warned him about his behavior.
Police claim the man left the bar but returned a short time later.
On this occasion, he assaulted a man, who reported the matter to the policeman.
The officer went to arrest the man for the assault. However, he allegedly “became violent and attacked him with a knife.”
The officer pulled his gun and shot the suspect, who is in stable condition at the hospital.
Police did not say whether the officer was injured in the alleged knife attack.
