NASSAU- A convicted child rapist is back in prison for fondling a nine-year-old girl.
Alden Scott, 54, pleaded guilty to indecent assault on Tuesday and was sentenced to two years in prison.
The mother of the child contacted authorities after her daughter complained about Scott’s behaviour.
Scott sat on the child’s bed on January 17 and touched her thigh near her genitals, the court heard. The girl told her mother that Scott’s actions made her “uncomfortable.”
Though old enough to be the child’s grandfather, Scott told the girl she was “tall and sexy” on January 16, the court heard.
When police questioned Scott, he said he had touched the child’s thigh while helping her into bed.
Investigators visited the home and determined that the child was tall enough to get into bed by herself, the court heard.
Scott was recently freed from prison for the rape of a 17-year-old girl.
He was sentenced to nine years in prison but served six years before he was released.
Scott faced a maximum of three years in prison for the indecent assault charge.
In sentencing, Magistrate Samuel McKinney considered Scott’s rape conviction and the age of his victim.
Scott had asked the court to consider probation instead of prison.
Scott said society wouldn’t “benefit” from his imprisonment.
The magistrate advised Scott to stop engaging in deviant behaviour.
