Accused killer denies jealousy over other women

Murder accused Lynette Charlton

NASSAU- Accused killer Lynette Charlton hit back at suggestions by a police detective that jealousy drove her to murder when she described the deceased as her “f*** buddy.”

Jurors heard the shocking disclosure when prosecutors played a video of a police officer quizzing her about the December 27, 2015 shooting of Wayne Seymour at Adelaide.

Investigating officer Sergeant 2733 Lincoln McKenzie asked Charlton, “Do you know Wayne Seymour?”

After Charlton said that she did, the officer asked, “What was he to you?”

Without batting an eye, Charlton replied, “F*** buddy.”

McKenzie said, “I put it to you that you were in a relationship with Wayne Seymour and it became confrontational because you were obsessively jealous over him having other girlfriends. What do you have to say to that?”

But Charlton was adamant that despite their intimacy, they were “never in a relationship.”

McKenzie suggested that Seymour had picked her up from her Redland Acres apartment between 7pm. and 8pm. According to his theory, Charlton shot Seymour multiple times about the body before she drove off in his truck, leaving him to die “like a dog in the road”.

Charlton replied, “No sir, with an explanation, because I cannot drive at night; I cannot see.”

In the interview Charlton explained why Seymour’s keys were in her bag when she surrendered to police.

According to Charlton, Seymour had misplaced his keys, passport and wallet when they rented a room at an inn off East Bay Street sometime in December. Unable to get into his truck, Charlton said, they walked to her apartment in Redland Acres to get her car.

Charlton claimed that she later found Seymour’s passport in her bag, but she didn’t locate the keys.
