Freeport, GRAND BAHAMA- A former wanted murder suspect who allegedly evaded police for six years has been granted bail within five months of his arrest.
Jaret Pinder, otherwise known as Japanese, is accused of the August 6, 2016 shooting death of Tashad Barr in Freeport, Grand Bahama.
Pinder was arrested and charged in relation to the murder on February 8, 2023 following his deportation from the United States for illegal entry.
Prosecutors objected to Barr’s release, saying that he had demonstrated the ability to enter the United States undetected.
For his part, Barr denied evading the authorities as he was unaware that a wanted poster had been issued for him.
Justice Andrew Forbes set bail at $30,000 on the condition that Barr is fitted with an ankle monitor and keeps a curfew from 10pm to 5am.
Additionally, Forbes has to surrender his travel documents to the court and sign in at the police station three times a week.
He is presumed innocent until proven guilty as the charge has not been proven in court.
