NASSAU- A 27-year-old corrections officer has denied that he tried to break into Solomon’s Yamacraw twice.
Prosecutors allege that Franklee Laphaeile attempted to break into the business on Yamacraw Hill Road on August 23.
The following day, Laphaeile allegedly tried to break into the store again.
However, he was arrested. And, police allegedly found Laphaeile with a headlamp, screwdrivers, hammers and wrenches.
Laphaeile, who also lives on Yamacraw Hill Road, pleaded not guilty to two counts of attempted shop breaking and possession of instruments for burglary at his arraignment before Magistrate Shaka Serville on Friday, August 26.
He was freed on $7,000 bail and is trial is set to begin on December 2.
In the interim, Laphaeile has been suspended from his job.
Laphaeile has worked at the Bahamas Department of Corrections for five years.
