NASSAU- A wicked woman, who falsely accused a policeman of rape, has been jailed for two months.
Wendy Ann Lewis, 57, of Abraham Street, apologized profusely for her actions at her arraignment before Assistant Chief Magistrate Subusola Swain.
The court heard that police had detained Lewis at the Wulff Road Police Station on a threats of harm complaint.
While in custody on May 26, she claimed that a policeman came into her cell and raped her.
However, after checking the surveillance footage at the station investigators discovered that Lewis had lied.
The magistrate told Lewis that she had done a wicked thing, as she willfully told a lie that could have ruined a police officer’s livelihood.
Magistrate Swain said she had to jail Lewis because of the potential consequences of her false claim.
Lewis could have been jailed for up to six months in prison.
