NASSAU- A cruise ship passenger arrested for having $2 worth of weed was brought to court with shackles on his feet.
Californian Romalio Cosey’s vacation in paradise quickly became a nightmare after a security guard at the Prince George Wharf found ½ gram of marijuana in his bag.
Cosey was about to board the Carnival Sunrise at the time of the discovery.
As a result of the find, police arrested and charged Cosey with possession of dangerous drugs.
He pleaded guilty at his arraignment before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt on Friday.
Cosey, 26, told the court that he had no idea that marijuana possession was illegal.
However, he told the court that he didn’t intend to smoke it.
According to him, a woman gave him the drugs and he put it in his bag.
After taking into account the weight of the drugs involved, the magistrate gave Cosey an absolute discharge.
