Bail denied for accused smash-and-grab thief

NASSAU- An alleged smash-and-grab thief has been denied bail.

Duran Horton, 38, of Malcolm Road West, is accused of smashing a car window and grabbing a bag.

Orson Smith parked his car in front of a business in a popular shopping plaza on East Bay Street at 2:45pm on October 15.

He returned to find his right back window broken and a Swiss backpack missing. The bag contained a passport and a Casio calculator.

Horton pleaded not guilty charges of causing damage and stealing at his arraignment before Senior Magistrate Carolyn Vogt-Evans.

Bail was denied because Horton was convicted of smash-and-grab car thefts last year.

His trial is set for February 23, 2022.
