NASSAU- A pilot and an ex-con have been charged in connection with a $3.1 million cocaine seizure as police search for a third suspect.
Pilot Brandon Miller, 29, of South Beach, and Johnnie Emil, 46, of Rock Sound, Eleuthera, appeared before Deputy Chief Magistrate Andrew Forbes over their alleged involvement in the March 29 drug seizure.
Officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit went to the Governor’s Harbour Airport after learning of the alleged drug run.
DEU officers stopped and searched two men who disembarked the target airplane and searched them.
But they didn’t find anything illegal. However, DEU officers later found several cocaine-filled bags in bushes near the airstrip.
Prosecutors allege that Miller conspired with Emil to import the cocaine and to distribute it.
Miller is also charged with cocaine possession with intent to supply and importation.
Both men entered not guilty pleas at their arraignment on Tuesday.
Magistrate Forbes set bail at $10,000 for Miller.
On the other hand, Emil, who has prior convictions for drug trafficking, returns to court on April 12 for a bail hearing.
Jomo Campbell represents Miller and Tamara Taylor-Storr appeared for Emil.
