Teen confesses to road rage murder

NASSAU- A 16-year-old Haitian teenager has confessed to stabbing a senior citizen to death in a road rage incident.

The stabbing followed a minor collision at Fifth Street and Palm Tree Avenue around 6pm on Tuesday.

No one was injured when Andrew Sturrup hit the Nissan Note that the teen was a passenger in.

But the enraged driver of the Note pulled Sturrup from his Toyota Camry, demanding that he repair his vehicle.

The driver, 21, started to punch Sturrup.

In his confession, the teenager said he stabbed Sturrup, who was in his 60s, because he was beating up his friend.

Passers-by came to Sturrup’s rescue by beating up his attackers. They escaped on foot, leaving their car behind.

But the intervention came too late as Sturrup had already received life-ending injuries.

The 21-year-old and teenager surrendered to police on Wednesday with their lawyer.

The driver of the Note claimed that he pulled Sturrup from his vehicle to prevent him from leaving the scene of the crash.

He claimed that he did not know that his passenger was armed.

Both suspects admitted that they had been drinking prior to the incident.

They are due to appear in court on Monday.
