NASSAU- A contractor has been accused of taking $40,000 from a woman for a project, but never doing any of the work.
Prosecutors say Gracie Knowles hired 51-year-old Kevin Frazier to complete a building last year.
Knowles allegedly paid Frazier $34,000 on July 23 and gave him another $10,000 on October 1.
But Frazier allegedly kept making excuses as to why he hadn’t start the work.
Knowles got tired of the getting the runaround and reported the matter to police.
Frazier is charged with stealing by reason of service.
He pleaded not guilty and has been granted $10,000 bail.
Frazier returns to court on May 4 for a status hearing.
