Man denies breaking into Bamboo Shack during lockdown

NASSAU -A man accused of breaking into a Bamboo Shack restaurant and stealing cash has been denied bail.

Prosecutors say Lenieko Carey stole two cash floats with $1,450 when he broke into the Wulff Road location between July 24 and 26.

The crime occurred during a government mandated lockdown intended to slow the spread of the coronavirus.

Carey, of Johnson Alley, denied charges of shop breaking and stealing at his arraignment before Assistant Chief Magistrate Subusola Swain.

She set Carey’s trial for October 1 and told him that he had to apply for bail in the Supreme Court.
