NASSAU- A man who tried to rape a woman in an abandoned building took a plea deal instead of going to trial.
Kevin Archer, 24, pleaded guilty to assault with intent to rape when he appeared before Justice Deborah Fraser and was sentenced to two years in prison.
After his release, Archer will be placed on probation for two years. Any violations of his probation will attract a two-year prison sentence.
On May 19, 2019, Archer grabbed a woman as she took a shortcut through Bishop Street in Nassau Village before he dragged her into an abandoned building.
Once inside, he held the woman down and tried to rape her. She received injuries to her neck and thigh in the struggle that followed.
The woman was able to break free and run off. She made a report to police and identified her assailant by name.
T’shura Ambrose prosecuted and Glendon Rolle represented Archer.
