NASSAU- Prosecutors on Friday, February 4 charged two men believed to be behind separate fatal shootings.
Tahj Charite, 22, has been charged in connection to the death of Carlin Smith.
He was shot on January 29, 2022 inside a car in front of a friend at Comfort and Hay Street.
Smith died from his injuries in hospital.
Charite did not have to enter a plea to the murder charge when he appeared before Magistrate Samuel McKinney and was denied bail.
He makes his next court appearance on March 2.
Prosecutors say Pedro Gibson is responsible for the murder of 24-year-old Sharlencio Demeritte last year.
Demeritte was killed in an ambush shooting while visiting a home on Mauritius Avenue in Elizabeth Estates on July 15, 2021.
He died on the scene.
Gibson was not required to enter a plea to the charge when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt.
Gibson is also charged with deceit of a public officer.
He’s accused of giving a police officer a false name on January 30, 2022.
Gibson pleaded not guilty. He was denied bail and returns to court on July 13 for both matters.
