Two young men accused of killing their friend in a row over $20 were committed to stand trial in the Supreme Court yesterday.
Franklyn Glinton, 20, and a 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, are accused of beating and stabbing Lavard McKenzie to death in bushes on August 27, 2020.
McKenzie’s family reported him missing after he failed to return home. A search party found McKenzie’s body was found a street away from his home in Miller’s Heights on August 30. He was beaten so badly that authorities needed DNA tests to positively identify him.
His accused killers will appear before Senior Justice Bernard Turner for arraignment on March 26.
The teen suspect is free on bail.
Glinton, however, remains in custody as no one has signed his $30,000 bail.
