NASSAU- A Royal Bahamas Defence Force Officer accused of raping a marine on the base has been freed on bail.
Sub Lieutenant Renaldo Wilkinson was granted bail soon after he made his initial appearance before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt on the rape charge.
Wilkinson, 35, of Babbs Lane, Chippingham, is accused of raping his 32-year-old subordinate at the RBDF base in Matthew Town, Inagua on February 5.
Wilkinson was suspended immediately after the woman made the rape allegation.
He was not required to enter a plea to the rape charge and was denied bail.
However, Wilkinson got an emergency bail hearing as prosecutors had no objection to his release.
