NASSAU-One of the country’s most wanted fugitives is now in custody after 16 months on the run.
Prosecutors had sought 35-year-old Eddington Burrows since March 10, 2019 when he allegedly shot his girlfriend Lithera Bethel and two members of her family during an argument.
Burrows, of Coral Harbour, faced three counts of attempted murder for allegedly shooting Bethel, her aunt, Wendy Smith, and cousin Valentino Smith at their home on Cowpen Road.
Additionally, Burrows is also accused endangering the lives of six of Bethel’s relatives, including his four children, while armed with a black handgun.
Burrows did not have to enter a plea to the charges when he made his first court appearance before Deputy Chief Magistrate Andrew Forbes.
Prosecutors will send the case to the Supreme Court by a voluntary bill of indictment on November 4.
In the meantime, Burrows has been remanded to prison.
