NASSAU-A construction company owner claims his accountant extorted him out of $75,000.
Sean Bain, 49, of Twynam Heights, appeared before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt yesterday to answer the charge.
Prosecutors allege that Bain told Paul Baker, owner of Lifestyle Construction, that the money represented negotiation fees associated with a VAT audit.
They say Baker paid Bain the money by cheque on September 28, although no fees are associated with the review.
Bain, the principal of Bain and Associates, denied charges of extortion and fraud by false pretences.
He was granted $8,000 with two suretors in the Supreme Court.
Bain returns to court on December 7.
