4 cops charged with killing unarmed man seek bail

NASSAU- Four police officers charged manslaughter in connection with the fatal shooting of an unarmed man are trying to avoid being remanded to prison.

Corporals Archibald Miller Jr, Thomas Thurston and Constables Lee Dormeus and Kevin Greenslade were all on duty when Danrico Carey was shot dead at Matthew Street, Nassau Village on November 13, 2021.

The officers were suspended from duty since December 2021 while the matter was under investigation.

Their account of incident was reportedly not supported by footage from their body cameras.

The officers were not required to plead to the charge when they appeared before Senior Magistrate Derence Rolle-Davis today.

The magistrate remanded the men to prison until April 25.

However, they might not go to prison if their lawyer K Melvin Munroe is successful in an emergency bail application in the Supreme Court.
