Man gets 16 years for fatal shooting

Nassau, BAHAMAS- A man responsible for a shooting that killed a man and injured another has been jailed for 16 years.

Alvarado Curry pleaded guilty to manslaughter and attempted murder as part of a plea deal.

Prosecutors alleged that Curry and Pedreito Mejias killed Javardo Thompson and tried to kill Antonio Morley during a drive-by shooting at the Fox Hill Park on March 17, 2019.

Curry was initially charged with Thompson’s murder, but prosecutors reduced the charge to manslaughter.

He was received concurrent sentences of 16 years for manslaughter and 15 years for attempted murder.

Tragically, his co-accused was murdered on April 25 in a gang-related shooting.
