NASSAU- A man who allegedly raped and murdered his grandaunt and cousin in Salt Pond, Long Island has pleaded not guilty.
Nathan Harding, 20, appeared before Senior Justice Bernard Turner via videolink from the Remand Centre for his arraignment on Friday.
Prosecutors say Harding kidnapped, sexually assaulted Jane Harding, 62, and her 34-year-old daughter Melissa Hui before he battered them to death.
Justice Turner assigned the case to Justice Cheryl Grant-Thompson for trial. Harding, who is represented by Bjorn Ferguson, will appear before Justice Grant-Thompson on February 3 for a fixture hearing.
Ms Harding and her daughter were found buried in a shallow grave on February 28, 2020, three days after they were reported missing.
Hui’s employers became concerned when she didn’t report for duty at Long Island Petroleum.
