NASSAU- A 29-year-old man accused of killing his grandmother and trying to kill his mother inside their home made his initial court appearance today.
Rico Pratt is accused of fatally stabbing 69-year-old Gelena Pratt and the attempted murder of his 51-year-old mother, Aretha Pratt on December 4 at Shabbach Close.
Pratt allegedly slit his mother’s throat during the brutal attack and she remains in critical condition in hospital. His grandmother was found in a pool of blood inside the home with multiple stab wounds.
Pratt was not required to enter pleas to the charges of murder and attempted murder when he made his initial court appearance before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt. He didn’t have a lawyer.
Pratt makes his next court appearance on April 21, 2021.
