Fined for ganja in gift boxes

NASSAU- A man has pleaded guilty after police found two pounds of marijuana hidden in gift boxes.

Officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit stopped a white Infiniti G-35 car with three men inside near the Airport Industrial Park on November 22.

The officers searched the occupants and the car for guns and drugs.

While searching the back seat, the officers found sealed packages of marijuana inside two gift-wrapped boxes.

The front seat passenger, Andre Campbell, pleaded guilty to drug possession with intent to supply at his arraignment before Magistrate Samuel McKinney.

He was fined $2,500 or six months in prison.

As a result of his guilty plea, the prosecutor, Inspector Timothy Bain, withdrew charges against his co-defendants.
